Today, Select Star’s popularity summarizes usage score of the data asset. It helps you to understand if the asset is well-used or trusted in the organization, or if it should be avoided.
We’re introducing a new Select Star metric called impact score. Impact score combines lineage and popularity to give a new insight that helps you understand the total downstream impact of a data asset. By combining popularity along with the usage of it’s downstream dependencies, the impact score gives you one metric to look at to understand if it’s safe to deprecate or can be skipped in a migration.
The Impact Score insight is available on both the Table and Column level for customers on enterprise plans.
With the increase focus on security, we are happy to announce that Select Star now supports Key Pair authentication for Snowflake. Snowflake has announced they will block single-factor password authentication by November 2025, which makes this a perfect time to switch.
To change your configuration, go to Settings > Admin > Data Sources and click Configure on your Snowflake data source. Select Back to get to the credential screen and then follow the instructions for Key Pair Authentication.
