Fivetran is a staple for many data teams, automating data extraction, load and transformation from various source systems (i.e. salesforce) into data warehouses. With Select Starβs integration with Fivetran, you can now see data lineage all the way back to source systems, gaining visibility into if the data youβre using is coming from Salesforce, Intercom or Hubspot.
The Fivetran integration will create lineage between existing data sources in Select Star (i.e. Salesforce and Snowflake), in addition to showing lineage to third party tools such as Marketo. New entires are only visible in lineage but are not created in the catalog.

Weβre always striving to provide visibility into your Tableau assets without overcomplicating or overwhelming. These two quality of life improvements help to provide more visibility while organizing information in a way that is more intuitive.
In Tableau, users create sheets and add them to one or more views, or publish them as a view itself. Previously Select Star showed view and sheets equally, making the relationship between them hard to see. Now, we have updated our catalog and lineage view to show two things:
Identify which sheets are on which views
Show the data lineage between sheets and views
Note: Tableau usage is reported at the view level, which Select Star passes back to the sheets shown in the view. Sheets shared on more than one view may have higher popularity.
In Tableau you can add or create an embedded data source within a workbook. Previously Select Star only showed published data sources, however, many customers are using embedded data sources to pull together data just for a workbook. With our new update, embedded data sources will appear in the catalog and lineage, with the exception of if they are an embedded version of a published data source. In those cases, the embedded copy will not appear.
Collections are designed to highlight your data domains and data products in an organized way. They are used to organize important documentation, dashboards and tables into data domains (a department or a project) that data consumers and creators can browse to discover data.
The last few weeks weβve rolled out a number of changes when it comes to collections, and weβre summarizing them here for you:
Collections are now available to all, to help organize your most relevant assets
Category Tags have been migrated to Collections
Note: any category tags that were tagged on columns were not migrated
Status Tags and any remaining Category Tags are now called Tags

We're excited to announce lineage support for Snowflake Dynamic Tables! You can now easily track and visualize dependencies involving your dynamic tables, enhancing clarity and accuracy of your data catalog.
Great news for customers running on Google Cloud Platform (GCP)! We've introduced a dedicated GCP environment to bring Select Star even closer to your infrastructure, improving connectivity and performance.
Select Star is also coming soon to GCP Marketplace! If youβre interested in licensing through GCP Marketplace, please reach out to us.
You now have control over which specific tags you'd like to sync into Select Star. This feature is currently in beta β if you're interested in early access, please let us know.
